Firstly, This is a cerebral movie, do not go in watching this film expecting explosions and aliens running around causing mayhem... this isn't your average dumbed down Pop corn Sci Fi. This movie is honouring the intelligence behind what Sci Fi movies ultimately are meant to be, something you think and feel about, something you invest yourself in and develop a newly formed perspective on things greater than your average daily understanding of life. In short, this film draws on emotions and intelligence as its main catalyst, the acting from Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner deliver an outstanding nuance in this film as it lays the undertone of the story. Some people are simply not tuned for cerebral movies and nit pick the details out of it for the things they simply cannot appreciate nor comprehend. I see the reviews here and so many have missed the point. But it's alright, not every movie is meant for everyone. For those who see it as if it's a Language course is wrong, that's not the point, for those who see it as boring, simply may not have the emotional capacity to understand the finer details of this film. That's alright too... for you there's everything else. Some like this and some like that, your opinion is your own, for those who follow others opinion will forever be bound by what others think and for those who dare to just invest themselves in a story and have the emotional maturity and capacity to comprehend complex elements presented in a cerebral way will understand this movie and appreciate it for what it is. My suggestion is this... if you are a person who senses the world more than the mainstream, who is more sensitive towards the details of a finely crafted story with emotional and intelligent storytelling, then go watch this movie... You'll enjoy it and walk away with a sense of gratitude for seeing something of this calibre still being made in todays Hollywood. For the rest who is too fickle about sensitive topics, complex thinking, emotional investments in stories 'alien' to them, then by all means, steer clear of this film. For you there's a sea of entertainment of your calibre. Personally, it touched me profoundly exactly for my own reasons... Each to their own... my opinion is as valid as yours... it's a movie... not a religion. Just enjoy the fact that we have a means of entertainment that isn't looking at paint dry.
